Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (ﷺ) is the last prophet and messenger of Allah Subhanahoo Wata’ala. No one will be given Prophethood after him. The salvation of every human being until the Day of Judgment has been associated with Daman-e-Mustafa (ﷺ). This blessed belief is called “Aqeedah Khatam Nabuwat.”

The belief in the finality of Prophethood is a unanimous, principled, primary, and fundamental belief of Islam. This belief is a special privilege of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). And this belief is directly related to the blessed personality of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). Therefore, its محافظ have been given the good news of the Jannah.

This belief is proven by “one hundred verses of the Holy Qur’an and two hundred and ten Ahadith.” The consensus of the entire ummah is that claiming Prophethood after the Prophet (ﷺ) is apparent disbelief. Instead, there is no doubt in this blessed belief. A slight carelessness makes a Muslim fall from the heights of faith into the depths of disbelief and apostasy.

Therefore, there is this fatwa of Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah (رحمة الله عليه), that the one who asks for evidence from the claimant of Prophethood after the Prophet (ﷺ) is also a disbeliever.

He said: –

This means, “Whoever asked for proof, a sign from the claimant of prophethood, has also become a disbeliever.”

Because asking for proof is a sign of doubt. And just as it is disbelief to doubt the Oneness and Lordship of Allah Ta’ala, in the same way, it is disbelief to ask proof from the claimant of Prophethood.

Proof of the end of Prophethood from the Holy Qur’an

Allah Ta’ala said in many places in the Holy Qur’an that the Prophet (ﷺ) is the last prophet.

This verse was revealed on the occasion of Hajj Al-Wida;

Today, I have perfected your religion for you, and have completed My blessing upon you. (5:3)

Allah Almighty said: –

MuHammad is not a father of any of your men, but he is a messenger of Allah and the last of the prophets. (33:40)

Similarly, in many other verses, it is mentioned that the Prophet (ﷺ) is the last Prophet.

Proof of the end of Prophethood from the blessed Ahadith

The Prophet (ﷺ) said many times about his being the last prophet.

Translation: –

I am the last of the Prophets, there is no Prophet after me. (Tirmidhi)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said that

Translation: –

I am the last of the Prophets, and you are the last of the nations. (Sunan Ibn Majah)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said that

Translation: –

I am Muhammad, and I am Ahmad. I am Al-Mahi, the one by whom Allah wipes out disbelief, I am Al-Hasir, the one whom the people are gathered at his feet, and I am Al-‘Aqib, the one after whom there is no Prophet. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi)

In all these blessed hadiths, the Prophet (ﷺ) described his being the last Prophet in clear words.

False Claimants of Prophethood in History

In the history of Islam, there are mentions of many such unfortunates who had the impious courage to rob the throne of Muhammad Mustafa (ﷺ).

Among those who falsely claimed Prophethood during the time of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) was “Musailmah Kazab,” who was killed by Hazrat Wahshi in Yamama during the caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq

And in Yemen, “Aswad Ansi” claimed Prophethood, then Hazrat Firoz Daylami (ﷺ) sent him to hell. Likewise, “Taliha Asadi” and Sijah Bint Harith also made false claims. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Soon there will be thirty liars in my Ummah, each of them will think that he is a prophet, although I am the last of the prophets and there will be no prophet after me.

Similarly, one of those unfortunate is Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani from the town of Qadian in the Gurdaspur region of India, who in 1901 laid the foundation of Qadianism by falsely claiming Prophethood and Prophethood at the behest of the British.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the worst person born on this dirty floor. He put on the cloak of Islam and worshiped Allah, the Prophet (ﷺ), the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ), the Ahl al-Bayt, the Holy Harams, the Qur’an and the Hadith, and the people of Islam. They have uttered nonsense about which a true Muslim’s heart would cry tears of blood and his stomach swell.

On September 7, 1974, the government of Pakistan declared the Qadianis as infidels due to their infidel beliefs. On April 26, 1984, the government of Pakistan stopped the Qadianis from performing the rituals of Islam (prayer, adhan, and salam), etc.

Fatwa

Qadiani is heretics, infidels, and atheists. Therefore, economic and social relations with the Mirzais, such as participation in joy and sorrow, greetings and words, friendship with them, etc., and buying and selling their products, are all forbidden. About 1400 contemporary scholars have fully agreed with this fatwa.
