My wife is sick. She has developed uterine fibroids (Rosali). The doctor suggested that we go to India for treatment. He has mentioned that the egg of another woman and my sperm should be combined and placed in the womb of my wife. This will make her pregnant and relieve her from her problem. Please inform me if this procedure is proper according to the Shari’ah or not?

It is Haram and unlawful to inseminate the husband’s sperm and another woman’s egg into the womb of the wife for the sake of bearing a child. This must be avoided. For this reason, another permissible procedure must be sought in order to relieve the question’s wife from her affliction.
