The Virtues of Surah Al-Waqi’ah
It is narrated by Abdullah bin Mas’ud (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqi’ah every night, he will be saved from poverty.”
Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Teach your women Surah Al-Waqi’ah, for it is the Surah of richness.”
It is also reported that when Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه) visited Abdullah bin Mas’ud during his illness, Uthman asked him about his condition. Abdullah bin Mas’ud replied that he was feeling the pain of his sins. Uthman asked if he should arrange for a doctor, to which Abdullah bin Mas’ud replied that it was the doctor who had made him ill. Uthman then offered to provide him with some wealth, but Abdullah bin Mas’ud refused, stating that he had no need for it. Uthman said, “We give that wealth to your daughters.” Abdullah bin Mas’ud replied, saying that they also had no need for it, as he had instructed them to recite Surah Al-Waqi’ah.
It is further narrated by Masruq (رضي الله عنه) that whoever wishes to possess knowledge of the first and the last, of this world and the Hereafter, should recite Surah Al-Waqi’ah.
These narrations highlight the virtues and blessings associated with the recitation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah, including protection from poverty, abundance, and knowledge. It is recommended to regularly recite this Surah and encourage others, including women, to recite it as well.
