The Day of Arafah Fasting
The Day of Arafah is a highly virtuous day, and fasting on this day is equivalent in reward to fasting for an entire year. Similarly, worship during one night of this day is equivalent to worship during the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr). This indicates that a Muslim should strive to engage in acts of worship and obedience as much as possible during these days. The 9th of Dhul-Hijjah is known as the Day of Arafah, during which Allah recommended the great pillar of Hajj, i.e., the standing at Arafah for the Hajj pilgrims. For us specifically, this date has been designated as a recommended day for voluntary fasting (Nafl Roza). Regarding this day of fasting, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised that whoever fasts on the Day of Arafah, it is expected that Allah, with His Majesty, will expiate his sins of the previous year and the coming year.
