Welcome Ramadan

How do we welcome Ramadan?

The arrival of the month of Ramadan is coming; everyone is feeling extremely happy on the arrival of the month of Ramadan. This is the blessed month that the believer waits for throughout the year because it brings goodness, blessing, forgiveness, grace, success, worship, asceticism, piety, jihad, charity, equality, charity, God’s pleasure, and the good news of heaven and hell. It is the month of salvation. This month of Ramadan comes to us as a guest for only one month after a year. Imagine in your mind what we do when a high-ranking guest comes to our house. So, in reply, it will be said that we make a lot of preparations, we decorate the courtyard of the house well, we also adorn ourselves for them, there is an atmosphere of happiness in the whole house, there are signs of happiness in the face. Various types of food are prepared for the comfort of the guest. When there is so much preparation for a guest, how much emphasis should be placed on the preparation of the guest who is the highest among the guests and the guest sent by the Almighty?
So come on! Let’s try to learn some actions through which we can welcome this month of Mubarak in a good way.

Fasting in the month of Sha’ban

The Messenger of Allah () used to fast frequently in the month of Sha’ban, as Sayyida Aisha (رضی اللہ عنھا) says:

‘A’isha (رضی اللہ عنھا) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to fast until one would say, he never breaks his fast (i.e. he never stops fasting), and he would abandon fasting (at other times) until one would say that he never fasts. And I never saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) fast for a complete month except for the month of Ramadan, and I never saw him fast in a month more than he did in the month of Sha’ban.” Agreed upon and the wording is from Muslim. (Bulugh al-Maram)

However, when half of Sha’ban has passed, it is forbidden to observe the fast of Ramadan. Therefore, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (رضی اللہ عنہ) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “When the middle of Sha’ban comes do not fast.” Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it. (Mishkat al-Masabih)

The reason for this may also be that if you have to fast for a continuous month in the month of Ramadan, then the body will get some rest so that it does not happen that after fasting the month of Shaban, you will not have the courage to fast in Ramadan. But for a person who fasts continuously on Thursdays, Mondays, or the days of Bai’z, it is permissible for him to fast even after half of Sha’ban.

Making up for shortened fasts

Many of us, especially women, have some fasts left over, so we should try to make up for them during those days, as Sayyida Aisha (رضی اللہ عنہا ) says:

‘A’isha said that when she had some part of the fast of Ramadan to make up she would be able to do so only in Sha’ban. Yahya b. Sa’id said she meant this was due to her being kept from it by her duty to the Prophet. (Bukhari and Muslim.) – (Mishkat al-Masabih)

Understanding the greatness of the month of Ramadan

The month of Ramadan is glorious; the feeling of its greatness and value should be instilled in the mind before the coming of Ramadan so that when Ramadan comes, negligence, laziness, disrespect, ingratitude, and Fasting and Fasting should not produce bad qualities of apathy. This is a month of such greatness and value that only one night of it is of great importance, as Allah Ta’ala says:

We have sent it (the Qur’ān) down in the Night of Qadr. And what may let you know what the Night of Qadr is? The Night of Qadr is much better than one thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend in it, with the leave of your Lord, along with every command. Peace it is till the debut of dawn. (Al-Qadr;97)

This does not mean that only one night of Ramadan has value and status, but every day and night has value and status. Whoever does righteous deeds after observing this month of Ramadan, then Allah Almighty is granted entry into Paradise before the one who is martyred in the path of Jihad, so SayyidNa talha bin Ubaidullah Radiyallahu Anhu says:

“Two men from far away came to the service of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), they embraced Islam together, one of them was more diligent than the other, so the diligent did Jihad and was martyred, then the other person after him. Lived for a year, after which he also died. Talha Riz Far says I saw in a dream that I was standing at the gate of Paradise, then those two people appeared, and a person came out of Paradise, and allowed that person to enter, who died at the end. It happened, then came out a second time, and allowed him who was martyred, after that the man came to me and said: Go back, your time has not yet come. In the morning, Talha (رضی اللہ عنہ) got up and started narrating the dream to the people, so the people expressed great surprise when this news reached the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he narrated the whole incident to him, and he (ﷺ) said:

It was narrated from Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah that two men from Bali came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). They had become Muslim together, but one of them used to strive harder than the other. The one who used to strive harder went out to fight and was martyred. The other one stayed for a year longer, then he passed away. Talhah said: “I saw in a dream that I was at the gate of Paradise and I saw them (those two men). Someone came out of Paradise and admitted the one who had died last, then he came out and admitted the one who had been martyred. Then he came back to me and said: ‘Go back, for your time has not yet come.’” The next morning, Talhah told the people of that and they were amazed. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and they told him the story. He said: “Why are you so amazed at that?” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, the first one was the one who strove harder, then he was martyred, but the other one was admitted to Paradise before him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Did he not stay behind for a year?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “And did not Ramadan come and he fasted, and he offered such and such prayers during that year?” They said: “Yes.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The difference between them is greater than the difference between heaven and earth.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Purify your intentions

Purify your intentions before the arrival of Ramadan, and make a sincere determination to benefit from it as much as you deserve, because sincerity is the essence of religion, and Allah has ordained that everything should be done with sincerity. Commanded us, Allah Ta’ala says:

while they were not ordered but to worship Allah, making their submission exclusive for him with no deviation, and to establish Salāh and pay Zakāh. That is the way of the straight religion. (98:5)

And a person who is devoid of sincerity and commits an act of hypocrisy, then Allah Almighty does not accept any of his acts, so it is stated in the Qur’an:

Those who seek (merely) the worldly life and its beauty, We will fully recompense them herein for their acts, and their right will not be curtailed in this world. Those are the people for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except fire. Nullified will be whatever they worked herein, and void will be what they have been doing. (11:15;16)
Cleanse your hearts: Cleanse your hearts from envy, malice, selfish desires, enmity, ingratitude and all kinds of disobedience before the coming of Ramadan, because piety, asceticism and sincerity can never be born in such a heart. Cleanliness of the heart is also important because if it is correct, the whole body remains correct and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted, as it was narrated from Sayyid Na Numan bin Basheer (رضی اللہ عنہ) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Ramadan is a divine blessing, thankfully realizing that the month of Ramadan is a blessing from God Almighty. Generally, a person is less aware of the blessing that he gets, but he keeps yearning for what he doesn’t get. The whole body gets distorted, be aware! That is the heart.

Sahih al-Bukhari: 52, Sahih Muslim: 1599

Think about it! Last Ramadan, how many people used to breakfast with us, but today they are not present in this world? How many people do not get the month of Ramadan? How many people make wishes for Ramadan and call this world good? Therefore, thank the Almighty for this divine blessing because by thanking Allah, the Almighty will continue to give us this blessing twice, so the Almighty says:

(Recall the time) when your Lord declared, “If you express gratitude, I shall certainly give you more, and if you are ungrateful, then My punishment is severe.” (14:7)

And about those who do not thank Allah for His blessings, He said:

Have you not seen those who adopted disbelief in exchange of Allah’s favor and caused their people to disembark at a land of total destruction, (which is) the Jahannam. They shall enter it; and it is an evil place to dwell. (14:28;29)

Repent of past sins

A famous example is that the person who forgets in the morning is remembered if he comes home in the evening. How many of us are there who have forgotten our Lord for the past eleven months and are living in the mire of sins? If we turn to Him before this blessing of Malik-ul-Mulk comes, then Allah God’s door will be open. Instead, it is a general declaration:

Say (on My behalf), “O servants of Mine who have acted recklessly against their own selves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the One who is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful.

Therefore, we should not do good by seeking forgiveness and fasting. Remember! Cleansing oneself of one’s sins before the arrival of Ramadan is the right way to welcome them. We should learn from our friends and relatives who thought they would repent in the next Ramadan. But before they could see the new moon of Ramadan, we overthrew them with our hands. So, take us away at the first opportunity. Then when Ramadhan comes, one should try to attain heaven for the rest of his life.

Try praying with Takbeer Awla for forty days

On the authority of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (رضی اللہ عنہ), the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Anas reported God’s Messenger as saying, “If anyone prays to God for forty days in congregation being present in time for the first takbira, two immunities will be recorded for him, one from hell and one from hypocrisy,” Tirmidhi transmitted it. (Mishkat al-Masabih)

By the way, congregational prayers should be organized on both the general days as well, but the advantage of starting this work in the last decade of the month of Sha’ban will be that none of our prayers will be offered without Takbeer Auli in the month of Ramadan.

Attract goodness

Ramadan is the spring of good deeds; Allah Almighty blesses the believers in many ways in this month; we should prepare ourselves before Ramadan to get these good things and be willing to benefit from the good deeds. It should be prepared to include all kinds of good things. Arrangement of reading the Qur’an with understanding (at least once Qur’an), five daily prayers in addition to posthumous acts of worship, charity and charity, dhikr and waqaar, supplications, and prayers, asking for forgiveness and forgiveness, special consideration of Qiyaam Al-Lail, knowledge of the problems of fasting, Prepare a complete outline of participation in lessons and lectures, hard work on righteous deeds, and arming yourself with piety and piety, and according to this outline, spend the spiritual and holy month of Ramadan. In Ramadan, the reward of everything is doubled, and doing good deeds while fasting is a cause of more good deeds, so even small acts of kindness are precious in this season. To try to brush your teeth before every prayer, to reach the mosque before the call to prayer, to wait for the call to prayer, to pray to God Almighty between the call to prayer and Iqamah, to be in the lead in Taraweeh, to arrange for the people to break the fast and break the fast. , attending lectures, ordering people to do good, and forbidding them from doing evil.

Avoid evil

One of the important aspects of welcoming Ramadan is that we refrain from sins. But it is generally seen that we do good deeds on the one hand and do not leave bad deeds on the other hand. In this way, our deeds cannot be accumulated, but our good deeds are drowned in the sea of evil. Therefore, if the good deeds done in Ramadan are to be saved, then the bad deeds must be completely avoided. As Allah Ta’ala says:

Say, “Spend, willingly or unwillingly, it will never be accepted from you. You have been a sinning people.” (9:53)

This blessed verse shows how Allah does not accept charity due to sins, so think! If we continue to do bad things and do good deeds, then does Allah have any need for such good deeds?

Try performing Umrah

In the month of Ramadan, the reward of performing I’tikaf and prayers in Masjid Haram and Masjid Nabawi is more than in other mosques, and in any case, performing Umrah in the month of Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj in reward, as it was narrated from Sayyid Na Wahb bin Manbish, may Allah be pleased with him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Set a schedule

In order to take advantage of Ramadan, we should plan in advance, relieve ourselves, and postpone or delay unnecessary travel, we plan for worldly affairs, but less fortunate people plan for religious affairs. When planning, a complete schedule of Ramadan should be prepared in advance, especially this month should be made special for the Qur’an and Quranic sciences. Do not waste even a part.

Avoid TV, the internet and social media or etc.

Every single moment of Ramadan is very important. TV is a collection of myths, so try to get rid of them before the arrival of Ramadan. Most of the Ramadan programs broadcast on TV are based on music, mixing of men, and obscenities, which destroy the spirit of the month of Ramadan.

Do your shopping first before the arrival of Ramadan

Markets are the most disliked places in the sight of Allah, as it was narrated from Sayyid Na Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The parts of the land dearest to God are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to God are its markets.” Muslim transmitted it. (Mishkat al-Masabih)

It is very strange that we usually do shopping in the month of Ramadan, especially on odd nights, while this should be different because Ramadan is a month of worship and not shopping.

Helping the poor and needy

The month of Ramadan is the month in which everyone wants to compete in good deeds. How many people live among us who do not have the equipment for Suhoor and Iftar? It is our responsibility to help such people from now on. Before the arrival of Ramadan, provide Ramadan rations for them first. By helping a poor person in this world, Allah Ta’ala will help us on the Day of Resurrection.

Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. If anyone makes it easy for the one who is indebted to him (while finding it difficult to repay), Allah will make it easy for him in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, and if anyone conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his brother.” Related by Muslim. (Bulugh al-Maram)

Because the worship of Allah Ta’ala is until death, as Allah Ta’ala says:

and worship your Lord until comes to you that which is certain. (15:99)
